Euan McIntosh leading men’s tennis to victory
FRESNO, Calif.–After transferring to Fresno State from Drake University in 2014, Euan McIntosh has had one goal in mind—get Fresno State men’s tennis back on the map.
As a senior captain, McIntosh has one final year to continue to make an impact on the program.
In the 2015 and 2016 seasons, McIntosh racked up four Mountain West conference awards, as he was named to the all-conference teams in both doubles and singles.
“I want my final year to be my best season,” McIntosh says. “This is my last chance to help the team.”
While the awards and all-conference recognition help the team significantly, McIntosh’s teammates say that it’s his leadership on and off the court that makes him such a great role model.
“He’s just helped this team so much,” says Youseff Hassan, men’s tennis co-captain. “He has such a great work ethic and he works hard to keep us all motivated.”
While his career at Fresno State will soon come to an end, McIntosh hopes to pursue tennis in the future.
Men’s tennis head coach Luke Shields says that there will be a professional tennis career in McIntosh’s future.
“His ultimate goal is to make it to Wimbledon someday, and he can,” Shields says. “He has the game, he has the strength to do that, and so I want to set him up well for the future.”
For now, McIntosh is focused on finishing his senior year at the top.
While he would like to improve his own rankings, McIntosh is hopeful that the team rankings will improve, and that the team will win a conference championship this season.
