From the court to the studio

Zoe Lee started off shooting hoops. Now he spits rhymes and goes by the name Zee Will. Lee suffered an injury in high school, which discouraged his dream to play basketball.

“It just led to me moving back to my hometown Fresno and then meeting up with my brother and his friend and they actually sparked everything for me to start making music,” Lee says.

It wasn’t until four years ago that Lee decided to pursue a career in music. Since then, he has put in countless hours writing his own music, dedicating his time in the studio and spending a lot of money to invest in his craft.

His love for music started at a young age and his passion for writing poetry has evolved over time.

Crash, a long-time friend believes Lee is one of the hardest workers he knows, which is a trait that makes Lee stand out.

“Zee Will is a studio rat,” Crash says. “Like he’s just non-stop working and trying to create something great and sometimes forgets to have fun for his-self.”

Kam Cooks, Zee Will’s brother, says Lee has come a long way, and his message is to further and better the world.

“He is an awesome person — humble, always eager to learn, just, all around just a team player man,” Cooks says. “It’s awesome to see a person like that excel.”

Lee says he and his music are constantly evolving, and Juke his producer challenges that growth.

“Definitely a lot of behind-the-scenes going on as far as work — sleepless nights,” Juke says. “You know, fine tuning details.”

Lee says his ultimate goal is to continue making music–which he loves doing–keep his integrity and be at a point where he is financially stable and able to not only help himself out but those who’ve helped him along the way.

One of Lee’s latest projects is a collaborative EP titled “ILL MANTRA” which is set to be released on November 2. The EP can be streamed on Spotify and iTunes.
