Stonecliffe Animal Rescue saving dogs’ lives
Every Dog’s Life Matters
Stonecliffe Animal rescue was founded by Terri Stonehocker of Lemoore
The non-profit rescue shelter has been in business since 2003 when it started out with makeshift pens. It has since grown and has now has updated kennels on site.
Kennel technician Dorothy Hamilton has been working at the rescue for a little over a year and says what Stonehocker is doing is meaningful.
“We need more people like Terri in this world because there are so many unwanted animals,” Hamilton says. “Stonecliffe takes in dogs and we can rehab dogs and get them adopted into loving homes.”
Stonehocker rescues dogs high on the kill list or just dogs that have been abandoned, and she keeps them and takes care of them until the dogs find their forever homes.
Darleen Gonsalves adopted a dog from Stonehocker a little less than a year ago.
“Tootie,” is an older poodle who might have been overlooked if it wasn’t for Stonehocker rescuing her. Gonsalves is grateful that Tootie has come into her life.
“Miss Terri has a shelter where she can find a loving home for these dogs that shouldn’t be put down,” Gonsalves says.
Stonehocker believes that she was put on this earth to saves dogs, and the amount of work that it takes to run a shelter is way worth it to her.
“It’s why I’m here. It’s why God put me here,” Stonehocker says.
