Brows by Alma: hobby becomes career and passion
Everyone has a passion or a goal that is unique. For a young Fresno Woman her passion is to make people feel better.
“I was passionate about making people feel better and when I was in high school I was that girl who – your friends would go over and say ‘hey tweeze my eyebrows’ and I would do them,” Alma Cortez says.
Cortez now works at Seasoned Trends Studio, in the heart of Fresno, where she threads eyebrows and builds relationships with people who trust her with their brows.
“I was booked the first day we opened and that was definitely an eye opener and it made me feel like there are people who support me and are with me,” Cortez says.
Seasoned Trends Studio opened two years ago and it was an opportunity for Alma to thread eyebrows at a different level. She would no longer thread at the eyebrow bar at the Fashion Fair Mall, she now had her own brand “Brows by Alma” in a studio where she can grow and expand surrounded by inspiring co-workers.
“Not only is she passionate, she is selfless so she is giving everything towards her craft…you know when people say ‘would you do it if you were not being paid?’…she would do eyebrows if she wasn’t getting paid. That is how much she loves her customers, how much she loves her business and that is how much her brand means to her,” owner of Seasoned Trends, Clinay Wills says.
Alma is an innovator and her journey is just getting started. If you want to stay updated with her work you can follow her Instagram page @BrowsByAlma.
