Finding Your Flow
It’s no secret that yoga is one of the most popular fitness trends, but new forms of it are on the rise as well! Five times a week, Fresno State’s Student Rec Center offers Yoga Flow, a group fitness class that combines the stress-relieving practice of yoga with the challenging aspects of Pilates.
Flow draws in a wide range of Fresno State students, from novices to experienced yogis. Amber Carter, well-practiced in the methods of yoga, originally felt uncomfortable doing yoga in front of others but says the classes have given her a confidence boost.
“Honestly it makes you just break outside of your comfort zone and try your best because you’re not gonna get any better if you aren’t challenging yourself in the poses,” Amber said.
Another flow enthusiast, Ignacio Mendoza, says the class can offer more than just physical benefits.
“I mean I would definitely say it’s helped me specifically like with school and concentration,” Mendoza said.
Amidst the stress of managing their academic and personal lives, this class helps Fresno State students find the right flow for their lifestyle.
