Lee Asher: Renowned Dog Rescuer
A dog may be a man’s best friend, but for Lee Asher, dogs are more than that – they’re family.
Since college, Asher has taken in six dogs as pets and rescued over 100. His mission? “To change the world…one rescue at a time,” Asher says.
The stray dog population is large around the country, especially in California’s Central Valley.
“People really don’t understand the dogs that get put down in shelters, which is something that needs to be known everywhere.”
Asher dedicates his life to making sure it is known, by traveling across the nation to promote adoption.
The renowned dog lover stresses that the key to rescuing more dogs is by getting more people to step foot in shelters. He encourages prospective dog owners try looking at shelters for their perfect pet.
“If you’re looking for a dog, just go to a shelter to look, and you’ll see that there’s just so many beautiful options there,” Asher says.
Asher will be stopping at shelters and rescue events throughout the country and hopes to rescue at least one dog in each of the 48 states he visits.
