FREE FLU SHOTS FOR STUDENTS
In early October, Fresno State’s Student Health and Wellness Center offered a three day long series of Free Flu Shot clinics for Fresno State students. The Clinics hoped to keep the campus community healthy and lessen the risk of students catching the flu.
Family Nurse Practitioner, Kay Busby stated “The more students we have vaccinated in our campus community will stay healthier. They will be healthier hoping to miss less work, less class, and just get through the flu season in a healthier state.” Kay was one of the main coordinators of the events and stated in a later interview that well over 900 students received vaccines.
For many students, getting the flu shot on campus was the only option for their busy schedules. The free price, however, made this a deal students didn’t want to miss out on.
Raul Villar, a student at Fresno State commented, “Off the top a lot of people use the excuse that it’s I cant afford it or I don’t have the time, but having the flu shots for free on campus enables students to have to access to get the flu shot and its important for the campus community.”
If you were not able to attend the Free Flu Shot Clinics, the Student Health and Counseling center still had flu shots available to students as of late October.
