SCORING BIG AT THE BULLDOG BOWLING ALLEY

The Bulldog Bowling Alley isn’t just a place to score points — you can score deals, too. The alley is located on the lower floor of the USU, at the heart of campus and features 12 bowling lanes, billiards tables, an arcade, and a snack bar.

During this year’s homecoming week, Bulldog Bowling offered a special for students: they rented shoes and played a game of bowling for just one dollar. They also had half-off billiards games. Bulldog Bowling Alley employee Kevin Wix said this is common for the bowling alley:

“Typically throughout the year we have different events that are free bowling events, or we do have bowling events that are a dollar, and then we do some of the 50 percent off, it’s just like around the holidays.”

It offers two games of bowling for four dollars on weekday mornings, in the first few hours of the day before classes begin.

One freshman student said that the bowling alley has been great place for him to get acclimated with campus life.

“This is definitely like a must-know spot. Like I said there’s already enough to do here; along with the snack shop, the food’s cheap there, and it’s just a good environment. And if you’re lucky enough, someone will be playing music, it’s even better,” said student Diego Nieves.

For new students like Nieves, Fresno State can be a pretty big place. Having a fun hang out allows them to feel more comfortable and at-home on campus.

Students in the Fresno State Theater program have been using the bowling alley as a place to get to know each other better outside of classes.

“Recently I have been coming a lot with like my theater friends, you know before we didn’t hang out a lot but now were starting to hang out more and we’re starting to get involved in campus life,” said Juan Beltran.

The Bulldog Bowling Alley is a place where students can unwind and socialize around their busy class and work schedules.
