MONSTER MASH DASH
The holiday run series kicked off on Saturday with the Monster Mash Dash run at Woodward Park. Kelly Yost, a part-time professor at Fresno State, went to the race in support of the community and his granddaughter.
Kelly was not alone in attending the race to support the community; hundreds showed up in support.
“Something like this, while it promotes community and stuff it also helps others and I think that’s more important,” said Brad Black, a participant of the run.
“We wanted to do more for the community, so to do that we had to kind of go full time,” said Mike Herman, director of this event. “So, we quit our jobs and started doing events full time, and it just allowed us to give more and more back to the community.”
Each event gives all of the proceeds to a selected charity, including Toys for Tots, Light a Life, and the American Heart Association. The Monster Mash Dash raised over 2,000 dollars from direct donations from the participants alone, and all of it went to the Make a Wish Foundation.
And the community loved it.
“I think that this is a very good event. It’s very well supported by the community and the more they do, I think the better the entire community does, and the more people get involved,” said Kelly.
