FRESNO STATE ALUM WANTS TO MAKE FRESNO LAUGH
The Bitwise theater in downtown Fresno hosted Two-Bit Tuesdays Comedy, a show that brings local stand-up comedians from all over the Central Valley to Fresno once a month. Bitwise hosted the first event as part of the downtown revitalization scene.
Hosted by Karmen Geffken and Andrew Sulamo, the event features six comedians doing stand up for about 10 to 15 minutes each. All comedians are local and all are part of what they call the Fresno “Stand Up” scene that goes to open mics around Fresno and Clovis doing comedy.
“We wanted to highlight local talent and since they are also our friends it’s easier to get them to be in the show,” Geffken said about getting talent for the show and plans for the future. “Our plans for the future is to get bigger and become a recognized event that people from fresno want to attend.”
While at Fresno State, Geffken was part of USU productions, which is helping her now that she is producing her own shows. Geffken and Sulamo also produce another stand up show Thursday nights at Fresno City Vapor for the over 21 crowd.
Two-Bit Tuesdays Comedy runs the second Tuesday of every month at Bitwise. There is a $5 dollar cover at the door.
