SWEETENING GHANA
Fresno State is teeming with opportunity around every corner, under every rock and between all the nooks and crannies.
A group of students took advantage of some of that opportunity to study abroad in Ghana during the 2017 Winter Intersession. They spent 16 days in the villages of Shia and Suhum.
The trip was partially funded by the Dean’s Council, controlled by the Dean of The College of Arts and Humanities. About half of the group were Ag Business students with one mission: further fair trade. The other half were MCJ students with a dual focus: help with the main mission and create a documentary highlighting cacao bean production.
Senior Aly Honore was a part of the production process and said, “it’s very very important for people who don’t have a super informed idea of what African countries are like…. and how they live,” to view the documentary.
The documentary is close to being finished. The goal is to have it air on PBS.
