BULLDOG EXPRESS CAMPUS SHUTTLES
FRESNO STATE- For many students, getting to campus is the hardest part of their day. For many, the Bulldog Express is their answer.
The Bulldog Express has many stops around campus starting at the area on Millbrook between Bulldog Lane and Barstow, and ending near the Palazzo apartments at the Campus Point shopping center.
These buses are the university’s best current answer to the big parking crunch on campus. With record enrollment this year, there is essentially one parking spot for every five students. That’s why the school really promotes these buses.
We talked to student Anthony Bernal, who is a regular aboard the Bulldog Express, and claims “This is the main way I get to class.”
Many students like Anthony value how truly convenient the shuttle is, saving them a 5-20 minute walk to campus, which can really add up in a daily commute.
There’s an app that can tell you exactly when the bus will arrive, but when a shuttle is out for service, its replacement shuttle can not be tracked on the app, so people like Anthony just have to wait. “One of the cons is possibly missing your class. Cause you might’ve missed the first bus now you’re waiting for the second bus .”
We spoke to ASI Senator of Traffic and Safety Christopher Rodriguez and he gave us some insight on possible solutions to this inconvenience for students: “I need to speak with traffic operations and see how they are GPS’d. Because if it’s an easy fix I can just speak to them on how to do that.”
Rodriguez later gave us some future ideas that he hopes to see implemented: “At the end of the day, ASI and the student body as a whole I think, we love the buses because they do help us. One thing I like to see is most likely smaller buses and more stops.”
These ideas could help a lot of students, but for Anthony he just wants to make it to class on time and not have to wait too long to get there.
