CALIFORNIA CAMP FIRE
By Savannah McHellon
Savannah Berkowitz, a Fresno State softball player, and her family lost everything they owned in the Camp Fire in Paradise, Calif. Berkowitz says her family’s loss was an eye opener. It was a powerful reminder to cherish things that are often taken for granted.
“I would say stuff is stuff, it can be replaceable,” Berkowitz says. “I mean yeah, we’ve had a lot of expensive stuff in there but it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that you have your family and your pets. I feel like those are the two things that it really comes down to. So I’d just say, don’t take things for granted because you never know at any point something that crazy could happened to you.”
