MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A DAY
If you want to find service opportunities or make an impact in the community, who are you gonna call? The Richter Center. They’re the give-back gurus who put on some of Fresno State’s biggest volunteer events. Some of their most popular events are their day-long service trips, held twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring.
Just before Thanksgiving break, the Richter Center put on Serving Fresno Day, a day devoted to service. Students had the option of volunteering at one of four sites throughout Fresno: Habitat for Humanity, Discovery Center, Ronald McDonald House, and Sierra Foothill Conservancy.
A group of Fresno State students and alumni teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to refinish a home.
In less than five hours, the group sanded and painted windows and awnings, raked, gardened, to make the home’s exterior look like new.
The owner became emotional when he saw his new and improved home.
“I think it’s good. I’m not complaining. It’s beautiful. You did a beautiful job,” said the home owner.
