How Students Face Their Finals
It’s the most stressful time of the year! Finals.
But some Fresno State students choose to not let their exasperating exams get the best of them.
Junior business major Ajeet Singh plans for finals at the beginning of the semester so he can prevent some of that end-of-semester stress.
“I don’t really try hard during finals because throughout the semester I do a lot of studying to do good on my midterms so I don’t have to get such a high grade on my final to pass the class,” Singh said.
Other students, such as civil engineering major Rebecca Holt, prioritize their physical and mental health during finals to ensure that they are in the best stat to perform well on their exams.
“Get lots of sleep and work on everything until like the day before and then work on what you know, because, make sure you cement that first,” Holt said.
Fresno State psychology professor Kathy Johnson agreed with Holt, explaining that sleep is critical to students’ success.
“Most students don’t get enough sleep. And if you don’t sleep well, you can’t concentrate,” Johnson said.
Making careful calculations, focusing on familiar concepts, and getting plentiful sleep are just some of the ways students can stave off stress this finals week.
