LOCAL HALLMARK CLOSES ITS DOORS
Empty cubes, empty card runs, and empty walls. Business is permanently closed for Anne’s Hallmark in Fig Garden Village. When the employees found out, it was a devastating surprise.
“I woke up from a text from a co-worker showing me a picture of the memo that our owner had posted of our stores being bought out,” said Natalia Torres.
Not only were the employees shocked, the customers were too.
Frequent shopper Martha Forbes said, “It ticks me off. I always know that I can rely on Hallmark for specialty cards.”
“I know a lot of customers have come in and said that this is a very convenient store for them and it’ll be missed and it is one of their favorite stores,” said Natalia Torres.
They say its closing feels like they’re losing a part of themselves.
“It kind of sucks because I live around that area and I always come in there just to kind of see what’s in store and just to see what’s going on over there,” said neighbor Sydney Belmont.
The employees at all three of the Anne’s Hallmarks’ in Fresno have to reapply for their current job under this new ownership. Otherwise, they will be laid off at the end of February.
As of right now, Fig Garden Village does not have any plans yet for filling the place that filled our hearts.
