PAWESOME FRIENDS
The SPCA has been helping people find a special friend for years.
“We receive so many animals; they’re actually not just dogs and cats. We also receive small animals such as rabbits, turtles, birds, hamsters and then we have a large farm where we have about 20 horses right now,” said Thalia Arenas, SPCA Humane Educator.
For many, it took one look into the eyes of the animal to know they’d found the one. Cheryl Johnson said it didn’t take her much time to find their next family member.
“ When I came into the office I immediately fell in love with Kobe and his eyes and the kids said, ‘Oh that one, that one!’ We didn’t really look through the whole place because we automatically liked Kobe.”
Others, like Mary Salwasser, fell in love with the way the dog greeted her.
“She stood out just because of how her temperament was and she literally put her paws up on the cage and didn’t bark but wanted to come out and wanted me to pet her. So she got my attention out of all the dogs. So she’s going to come home with me and she has a new best friend they just met and they loved each other.”
The SPCA receives over 75 animals daily, compared to six to eight adoptions. If you’d like to help but aren’t ready to adopt, you can also foster or make a donation.
