PEACH BLOSSOM FESTIVAL BLOOMS AT FRESNO STATE
During sunshine week, students from all around the Central Valley had the opportunity to perform at Fresno State’s annual Peach Blossom Festival.
From oral interpretations to recited poems, the Festival gave students a chance to practice public speaking and understand the importance of literacy.
Five-year-old Nayeli Wall, from Leavensworth Elementary, was Peach Blossoms youngest performer. She recited a poem called “Spaghetti.”
For third grade teacher Melissa Dias, Peach Blossom provided many benefits for participating students.
“I think it helps them with public speaking…now with common core standards we have to do a lot of presentations in the classrooms. It also helps with their fluency in reading,” Dias said.
