LAST BLOOD DRIVE OF THE SEMESTER
In March, The Central Valley Blood Center hosted its last campus blood drive of the Spring 2019 semester, and encouraged students to come out and donate.
The blood drive trucks were stationed in front of the free speech area where both veterans and first times waited in line.
First time donors were a little nervous and anxious while they waited to sign up, “I never do it. I’m scared to do it, but I’m helping a friend, My grandma has before when she had cancer, she had to get blood transfusions,” said first time donor Tia Lewis.
Music, a raffle, water, and snacks were given to those who volunteered their time to donate.
Donating blood only takes fifteen minutes and can save up to 3 lives. Before donating, a volunteer at the drive gave some advice: “Bring a photo ID when you come out. It’s very important. Make sure you have a good meal before coming and drink lots and lots of water,” said Marisol Rios.
