FRESNO STATE BASEBALL SUCCESS
Out of the last 15 games, the Diamond ‘Dogs have managed 12 wins, with an impressive 15 and 6 non-conference record.
Last year the ‘Dogs fell short placing in the Mountain West conference, however it doesn’t look like history will repeat itself this year.
“We have a really good team chemistry. Our overall team culture is really like one, so I feel like that is part of our team’s success,” said outfielder Auston Chastain.
Another key element to the Bulldogs success are the 24 returnees on the team, making the roster more experienced and mature.
Head coach Mike Batesole said, “Yeah, being old is the key. I mean, last year we were playing six freshman almost everyday. Most days five, but a lot of days, six. And now we’re looking at today, we’ve had a couple out there because we’ve had some injuries, but most days we’ve had one or none. And that makes all the difference in the world.”
With only three series left in the regular season, the team is hoping to continue what they’ve been doing. However, a little luck doesn’t hurt either.
“I have a necklace that I wear, that my mom got me from Italy and I definitely cherish that necklace, because it reminds me to stay grateful,” said infielder Nolan Dempsey.
The ‘Dogs plan to stay strong and keep their first place in the Mountain West Conference.
