HOW STUDENTS CAN SAVE MONEY ON FOOD
College life can get pretty hectic. Here are some tips on how students can maintain healthier eating habits, while also saving a few bucks.
Most college campuses have student stores, cafeterias, and fast food restaurants. Fresno State has all three, and it’s convenient to have those places on campus, but not ideal for students’ wallets.
De’Rod Ford from the Money Management team on campus says he’s guilty of spending money on fast food. “Easily, I could have just woke up in the morning made two sandwiches and threw them in my backpack,” says Ford.
That’s one idea, or students can visit the Money Management team to get help on making a budget.
Another way students can save money is by taking visiting the student cupboard located in the IT building. The cupboard allows students to stop by once a day and fill up a giant bag full of groceries.
Alec Terraza works as a student assistant at the cupboard and says he personally saved around $200 dollars getting his groceries there. “The student cupboard is has everything from fresh produce, canned goods, snacks, and more,” said Terraza.
Eating doesn’t have to be unhealthy or costly but by managing your time and money the right way, you can keep your belly and pockets full.
