FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS GET A SECOND CHANCE
The Animal Compassion Team, known as A.C.T, has been rescuing dogs and cats for over 10 years.
Joyce Brandon and a group of friends were working at the Central California SPCA when they realized how much more help animals needed.
“We saw lots of animals dying needlessly and we decided that we could be of more help if we started our own rescue organization,” Brandon said.
Until seven years ago, all the the animals rescued by the friends ended up in their homes. Then, a generous donation changed their approach.
“We discovered this place and had a wonderful donor that actually purchased it and donated it to us. Life has really changed… since we now have a facility which can hold several hundred animals,” Brandon said.
Many volunteers have since helped the nonprofit rescue animals.
Loraine Rodriguez has been helping out for over a year.
“The group here is huge. I mean the constant cleaning, the constant care for the animals, go through a lot of food and a lot of blankets, a lot of laundry…people are amazing here,” Rodriguez said.
A.C.T is a safety net for animals that are living on the streets. Landing at the rescue gives them a second chance.
