BOXER AGUSTIN VASQUEZ: LIONHEART IN THE HEART OF CALI
Agustin “Lionheart” Vasquez has been working hard for his amateur debut. He has been a full-time boxer for the past five years. In that time he has faced multiple setbacks leading up to his debut.
Agustin has had countless opponents drop out of scheduled fights. He has struggled with managers and promoters helping him find a fight. “It’s frustrating, you know? When you get all excited to see him fight and they just drop out, or they don’t make weight,” Agustin’s mother Linda Lomeli said.
But Vasquez has been facing setbacks since he was a boy. He was kicked out of multiple schools and teachers had basically given up on him. But through hard work and the sport of boxing, he proved all the naysayers wrong. “Ever since I was small, people told me that I was nothing and that I was going to be nothing and it surprised me because they’re teachers,” Vasquez said.
Agustin’s latest potential opponent dropped out of his last schedule bout, but he has not been deterred. He continues to train knowing that one day his hard work will pay off.
