BALLIS GLASS STUDIO
Cory Ballis’ passion for glass blowing started during college.
“I was at Fresno State and I needed an art elective so I took glass blowing and I liked it so much that I was pretty much hooked the first day,” Ballis said.
After he graduated, he wanted to perfect his skills so he decided to take glass blowing classes. He studied with artists from Los Angles to Seattle.
From perfecting his skills throughout the years to now creating holiday pumpkins, Ballis decided he wanted to share his skills with people throughout the valley.
He and his brother opened up their own glass blowing studio called Ballis Glass.
“I’ve got regulars. I’ve got people that have taken every class I’ve offered twice now. So we get a lot of regulars that come back,” Ballis said.
Ballis wants to stay in the Central Valley for a while, but he says he has a goal.
“My goal is to have a glass blowing studio in a house on enough property that has a river in it so I could just blow glass and jump into the river when it gets too hot,” Ballis said.
For now, he will continue to teach others here in the valley.
“They love glass as much as I do so that’s another good part is to see that enjoyment from them and helping them find something new to do and be hands-on,” he said.
Ballis will be hosting holiday workshops all December long. If you are interested in blowing your own holiday ornament or pumpkin, visit his website or go to his Facebook page.
