More ways to vote in this election
Seal it, sign it, and turn it in. As simple as it sounds, voters in Fresno County can make their voices be heard.
After the 2016 presidential election, the Fresno County board of supervisors approved the California Voters Choice Act. This makes voting more accessible because it gives more days to cast their vote, work time allowances to vote, free postage, campus voting centers, and “day-of” registration.
Just weeks before the election, the County of Fresno Purchasing & Distribution center has been working tirelessly.
“There are a million things going on our warehouse and all over our department, getting ready and voting started, so we are receiving returned ballots,” said Brandi Orth, Fresno County clerk and registrar of voters.

Voters do not have to wait until election day to cast their vote. Polling centers will be open on the weekend before election night. Orth recommends voters take advantage of these changes. One of the polling centers is the Student Recreation Center located at Fresno State.

Students can cast their vote on campus instead of driving to one of the other 53 locations in Fresno County.
National University, Clovis Community College and the State Community College administration office are a few of the other polling centers.
All of these changes are designed to motivate voters to vote.
“Because what is happening right now in the world you are going to inherit, and you should start to make decisions and form opinions right now,” Orth said.
Also, the city of Fresno and Clovis will be providing free bus rides for voters beginning four days before election day. Just tell your bus driver that you are going to vote before getting on the bus.
Remember, it’s your voice, your choice.
