FRESNO, Calif. — Let The Voters Decide is a group of professional signature gatherers that are on campus at least once a semester to inform students on different petitions.
In order to sign, you need to be a registered voter.
Many students try to avoid the signature gatherers as they walk by saying they are in a hurry, late or aren’t registered voters.
The opportunity to learn about these petitions may affect lives that are on campus or their families that have to do with Uber wages, kidney dialysis clinics and more.
Armando Reyes, who is one of the signature gatherers, has been on campus for about four hours and receives many nos but he only focuses on the yeses.
One specific petition is quite personal to him.
“We have a grandpa that died. Was it in 2008? Due to kidney dialysis. He was waiting on care. We have a petition for kidney dialysis clinics and we have a petition on here for kidney dialysis and this right here prohibits clinics from discriminating against patients,” Reyes said.
There needs to be a certain number of signatures from registered voters for the petition to be considered for the ballot.
