Things to do to stay active during quarantine
This past Friday, Yosemite National Park closed to the public. But there are plenty of other places you can go to get your hikes in.
Many trails in the Sierra National Forest have fewer visitors and can keep you at a safe, six-foot distance from other hikers.
If you want to stay closer to home, go for a walk around your neighborhood, ride a bike or take a drive around town if you’re feeling cooped up at home.
“I basically have been watching movies,” Crystal Daza says. “I’ve been drawing, been cleaning, been trying to put myself together and hustle it up because it’s kind of hard to believe how all this going on.”
Although we are still able to go outdoors for exercise during the shelter-at-home order, Daza’s mom worries about that being safe.
“I’ve been wanting to go out for a run or hiking and stuff, but my mom thinks it’s best for me to stay inside for right now. Even though I really, really want to go outside and you know, run and go for a walk at least, she thinks that I shouldn’t,” Daza said.
Jasmine Rodriguez’s COVID-19 lifestyle is completely the opposite. She’s spending a lot of time outdoors, although she has been trying to avoid people.
I’ve been working out since the gyms have been closed. I have a goal to reach so this isn’t going to stop me. I’m going to keep going. I’ve been going to the trails, to the stadiums. I’ve been hiking,” Rodriguez said.
Many people are increasing their physical activity whether it’s indoors or outdoors and posting their routines on social media.
