Inside Kappa Kappa Gamma

Fraternities and sororities can be found on most university campuses, but unless you’re a part of Greek life, you might not know what that really means or why so many students pay to be a part.
At Fresno State, 40 single-sex fraternities and sororities are available for students to join during their time as Bulldogs.
Carly Basgall, a Fresno State sophomore and Kappa Kappa Gamma member, said belonging to a sorority can be costly.
“You rush your first year and then your second year you have to live in,” Basgall said. “Per semester, it’s similar to paying for an apartment but you also get like, all your amenities are included and we have a chef that cooks us three meals a day. So it’s kinda convenient that you don’t have to go out and pay for food, either.”
For sophomores, who are required to live in the house, room and board is over $10,000 for the year, but for the Kappa girls like Basgall, sisterhood is worth every cent.
