Student Parent Struggles with Online Classes
Some college students have struggled with virtual classes. Learning from home brings a lot of responsibilities.
Now imagine being a mom along with being a student. According to the U.S. Department of Education, 22% of undergraduate students are parents.

Fresno State student Estela Villanueva is one of those parents. She has a cute reason to work harder in her classes. “I am a mom so it’s a bit harder for me to take my classes since I have take a child. He’s a toddler now,” said Villanueva.

The toddler loves having his mom home, but she is missing in-person learning. “I feel like it’s a bit harder because I learn better hands on rather than just on a zoom meeting,” said Villanueva.
While it’s a juggle, Villanueva has been able to make it work. “I have to work around my son so I try to give him food before I take any of my classes. I try to get everything done. I get up earlier.”

The Student Parents Resources section on the Fresno State website has resources for any student balancing parenthood with their studies.
