Local Farmers Come Together for a Special Drink
Every Sunday morning, local farmers and their families come together to eat a traditional Mexican breakfast at a farm in Sanger.
It’s a tradition that’s been going on for years, but in recent months has become a way to check in on each other.
The locals come to make sure everyone is fine, but they stay for a traditional Mexican drink called pajaretes. This drink is made with chocolate, sugar, and fresh local milk.

The idea to have these breakfast get-togethers and serve a tasty Mexican drink came from farm owner Jose Luis who wanted to share a piece of Mexican tradition with the group.
“You came in the morning had a pajarete and then you didn’t eat until later in the day because the milk filled you up and that’s what pajarete is. But it’s a tradition from long ago, like from my grandparents,” said Jose Luis.

To stay safe, the farm has added precautions like mask wearing and an outdoor sink to wash hands.
For this local breakfast group coming together is what’s important.
