Art During Covid
With tattoo shops closed due to COVID-19, artists were left looking for a way to get their art out into the world. One used his down time to explore a new medium.
Adam Wooddy is a full-time tattoo artist in Fresno. When shops were closed, he began working on stencil art. What started as one commissioned piece turned into a series of over 120 pieces. But the biggest plus to this process for Wooddy, was that it gave him a sense of routine.
“I really think this process over quarantine gave me something to do, something to look forward to. I get messages pretty regularly of people thanking me for the project and thanking me for the piece they picked up. The joy that I get out of it and the joy they get out of it really keeps me going,” said Wooddy.
He makes only 12 of each piece and sells them on a first come first serve basis. One of his most recent pieces sold out in a couple of minutes.
One of his followers, Geof Colvin, is a repeat customer buying Wooddy’s art all the way from Texas. He loves the thrill of purchasing something so exclusive.
“It’s so cool man. You know it’s something that’s small batched and stuff like that, and there’s only 11 other people besides him and myself that have them,” said Colvin.
For Wooddy, it isn’t about how many pieces he sells. It’s more about another person appreciating his art as much as he does.
“Im just as happy to sell one, that there is one person out there that wants it, just as much as there is when 12 people do,” stated Wooddy.
Adam Wooddy plans to keep the series of stencil art going as long as he can. To keep up with his art, checkout his Instagram profile: @Woodyr.
