Starting an eco-friendly business
April Lomas is a Central Valley businesswoman about to launch her own eco-friendly bath and candle line called Noelle Devine Candle Co.
“Right now she’s taking orders through Instagram, but by mid-December she wants to have an official site for people to order through,” said her daughter, Adrianna Lomas.
April Lomas has always wanted to work for herself. During the early phases of the pandemic stay-at-home order, she started making bath and body care essentials. Over the summer, she began to make candles. Finding a clean-burning wax was a goal.
“Soy is one of the cleaner burning waxes and I wanted to use that so people would have less chemicals burning in their homes and settling in their furniture or curtains or what have you,” said April Lomas.
She wanted her products to be more eco friendly and sustainably sourced. “I use all natural as much as I can, using essential oils for fragrance and ethically sourced shea butters and glass containers so there is less plastic for the consumers,” she said.
She ships using reusable compostable water soluble packing peanuts.
Lomas offers an array of products and is hoping to expand. She wants to give her customers the full experience, down to the house slippers and pajamas.
Lomas is proud of where she is and excited to see what these next months are going to bring for her business.
