People buying chickens for fresh eggs
As stay-at-home orders swept across the country, shoppers rushed to stores and stocked up on groceries, including eggs. This demand has boosted egg prices, both nationally and in California. Some stores limit shoppers to buying two dozen at a time.
To combat this price increase, some have turned to raising their own chickens. “They start laying their own eggs. These are all organic, you’re feeding and growing them,” said Joe, a local farmer. “I figured I would get myself a few chickens and it was the best change I did for Covid.”
