Day of Giving coming up on November 17th
The 4th annual Day of Giving will be held on November 17th. It is a 24-hour online and social media fundraiser at Fresno State. The money raised goes towards scholarships to help students fund research, supplies, and creative activities during their time at the University.
“This allows you to pull your money with other people and make a big impact and we are talking about really big impacts. Sometimes it a question on whether a student can go to college or not. This is a question on whether a student has the supplies they need or not and that is one of the biggest benefits of Fresno State that we are able to change people’s lives,” said Benjamin Kirk, the communication specialist of the College of Arts and Humanities.
In past years, this fundraiser collected donations from supporters in other states and even other countries.
This year, it starts at midnight November 17th runs throughout the day. There will be online activities and challenges set up to engage people and bring in more contributions.
In 2019, Day of Giving raised over $550,000 with 2,161 unique donors. In a friendly competition with other colleges and departments at Fresno State, the College of Arts and Humanities won with the most unique donors adding to the overall success of the drive.
Donations start at $10, which is equal to a couple of lattes said Kirk.
