Delano Tigers To Resume Football Practices in December

Due to COVID-19, high school sports often had to be put on hold. For head coach Chad Martinez and the Delano Tigers, the football season won’t begin until 2021.

Practices begin in December, but games won’t be played until next year. “We’re just trying to make sure the kids stay safe, the coaches stay safe, because we all have families, the players, the coaches, so you know we want to make sure first and foremost that we’re all safe, but at the same time we have been looking forward to a season,” said Martinez.

Martinez knows this upcoming season will be full of challenges, but his players understand the seriousness of this virus and follow all safety protocols.

“With the current set of state guidelines right now, we’re still maintaining social distancing, we’ll be wearing masks. Coming up here pretty soon, but we are going to get the kids back on the field,” said Martinez.
