Poverello House Welcomes All Donations For The Holidays
The Poverello House in Fresno is accepting donations for the holidays.
Abigail Nolte, the community engagement coordinator at the Poverello House said the holidays are a time when community members want to give back and help those in need.
“It’s a really popular time to volunteer. If you are interested, we do require that people come to an orientation,” said Nolte.
One of the volunteer opportunities is with Papa Mike’s Cafe. This event gives those less fortunate a chance to experience a hot Thanksgiving meal in a safe space.
“We do a table service restaurant-style meal, so we get to give menus out and we have bussers and we have different entrée choices,” said Nolte.
But Nolte reminds people that while it may be tempting to donate more and volunteer around this time of the year, support is appreciated year round.
This direct aid goes to community members like Jasmin who grew up viewing the Poverello as a safe haven.
“31 years and this place has changed millions of times but the Pov has always stayed the same. It’s a safe zone for us,” said Jasmin.
