TikTok videos bring in donations for Fresno homeless
Homeless people in Fresno are going viral on TikTok thanks to Akram Mohsin or AK, a Fresno State student.
Mohsin helps run his family business, The Tower Gas and Minimart. There, he has been recording TikToks featuring the homeless people nearby and those videos are going viral.
“People (followers) will come from like San Francisco and LA,” Mohsin said. “I had a guy come from South Dakota just the other day to see one of them.”
Mohsin’s TikTok page has been growing quickly and followers send gifts to support the homeless.
“With time the followers wanted to get to know the customers better and that turned into them giving gifts,” said Mohsin.
Mohsin and his family distribute the gifts and donations. “A lot of people started donating, I’ll go and buy food for 100 to 200 people and I’ll go pass that around,” said Moshin.
“There’s a lot of jackets, sweats and stuff,” he said. “My sister helps me, I take it to her she separates everything, one of each, into little care packages, and we go hand them out.”
Followers love to see the people sing and dance. The people featured in AK’s TikTok love it as well. “Oh they love it, they love it,” said Mohsin.
Mohsin hopes the love and support don’t stop. “It’s a good thing that we got going so I don’t plan on stopping,” he said.
