Voting in 2020 is different, but matters just as much
Nothing is sacred in the year 2020, not even the act of voting in a U.S. Presidential Election. Across all 50 states, there are different rules and protocols for voting to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Here in California, there are plenty of avenues for people to cast their ballot safely without risking any exposure at all. All voters are sent an absentee ballot in the Golden State, without needing a request.
For those who want the traditional voting experience, in-person voting is still an option as long as CDC safety guidelines are followed, including wearing a mask and remaining socially distant.
The options don’t stop there, as voting drop boxes are placed around shopping centers and other areas. This is an option that Central Valley voter Carter Schmalzel thinks is your best bet.
“It is very simple, you get everything that you need before and then for a whole month plus, whenever you have free time you just go in there and drop it off and leave. It’s 20 seconds, easy,” said Schmalzel.
However you decide to do it, your vote is just as important as any other election. What’s most important, according to local voter Skylar, is that you get out there and cast your conscience.
“Your vote is never wasted, no matter what. I think you should always vote you conscience,” said Skylar.
