Advice for Next Semester
Students better invest in a comfortable chair because online classes are here to stay, at least for another semester. Since we’ve already survived one virtual semester, we are no doubt ready for the next one.
With experience comes knowledge and students are taking what they’ve learned to help them finish off this virtual year.
“If I have my laptop, my books, or my notebooks on my desk, somewhere where I can see them. It makes me and basically forces me to have to do them,” said Criminology major Gilberto Garcia.
Students working can get easily distracted. The best thing to do is to turn your phone off.
“I just have my phone off. Also what I like to do is having PowerPoint slides, the videos, and my notes opened up at the same time. That way I can focus a little bit more,” said Finance major Fernando Cruz.
While next semester will be online again, that doesn’t mean we have to make the same mistakes. Interim Director of the Career Center Mary Willis says now is a great time to look for internships and jobs.
“If you’re looking for part-time jobs, internships, that type of thing, start looking now. They’re getting posted for spring. Even the summer ones are starting to pop up now, so be diligent and get on hirefresnostate,” said Mary Willis.
While students get ready for another virtual semester, they are now using what they learned from during fall to stay focused, get work done, and get ready for the future.
