Health and Wellness PAWdcast

The Fresno State Student Health and Counseling Center launched a new health and wellness podcast. The podcast is called “PAWdcast” and is hosted by the peer ambassadors of wellness (PAW) volunteers.

“PAWdcast” officially came about in Fall 2020 to keep students connected with themselves and the campus community during these challenging times.

Some recent episode topics have been sexual health, virtual learning, wellness, hunger, anxiety, relationships, self-care and student resources.

New episodes of “PAWdcast” are released weekly and can be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Podcasts.

Senior Sommer Hijazi discovered PAW last year on campus and wanted to become more connected with the Fresno State community.

“I think if I hadn’t done PAW, I probably wouldn’t have been able to actively foster relationships and be inspired at Fresno State. It has made me more of a mindful person to those around me. I would recommend it to anybody,” said Hijazi.

All podcast episodes include guests that are affiliated with Fresno State to keep the campus community connection between listeners and guests.

PAW advisor, Melissa Norris, leads the 14 student volunteers and helps produce the podcast weekly.

“Our goal is for students to listen and be inspired to reach out and get connected to an additional resource. We always make sure that every episode we produce links to a resource on campus,” said Norris.

The student health and counseling center is currently offering limited in-person services due to COVID-19. There are several other online resources available for students like virtual counseling and virtual health and wellness workshops.

PAW volunteer applications will be posted later this semester through the student health and counseling center.
