Students struggle with duo verification
Many students prefer to do class work away from their cell phone, but with the new duo verification system, they now need their phones close by.
Duo verification is a security technique that requires students and faculty to not only log in on their computers, but also to authorize the program use on their phones.
For one Fresno State student, Terah Brooklyn, the change was and continues to be a struggle. Before duo verification, Brooklyn left her phone in another room. Now she has to remember to have it near her, creating a distraction.
“It’s upsetting to me cause I’m like ‘Oh my phones here’ then I’m like ‘ooh’ and I get more distracted with my phone being there, having that there,” Brooklyn said.
Campus technology services says the two step verification is here to stay. This leaves Brooklyn and many other students having to find alternative ways to stay focused with their cellphones nearby.
