Finding Ways to Stay Active During COVID
One lesson that has been pretty apparent over the last year is for some, it’s a lot harder to stay active and keep a good workout schedule when quarantined.
But even with gyms starting to reopen, getting that workout in can still be still difficult. Many gyms are only allowing half or even 25% capacity. For some, the risk doesn’t seem to be worth the reward. Some still want to play it safe until the vaccine is more readily available.
That’s where people like Carter Schmalzel come in. Schmalzel is a certified strength and conditioning instructor who has been sending people workout routines that they can do safely from their homes. Whether you have home equipment or not, Schmalzel can make it work. What matters most is staying active.
“Not only does it help you with osteoporosis, joints, muscles and looking good, but it can also help you with managing stress and manage your time,” said Schmalzel.
Simplicity is key when it comes to working out from home. Schmalzel says adding in sprints and jumps to a run around the block does a lot more than you would think.
Jacob King, a client of Schmalzel’s, has enjoyed the opportunity to get active again. “Just being able to leave the house and see new faces and sort of get your mind out of your work place as well as where you sleep and where you eat and all that is extremely important,” said King.
Keeping healthy during quarantine doesn’t have to be difficult. Schmalzel suggests looking to social media to find quality workouts and routines.
