Meet Gio Alvarado

Gio Alvarado is a graduating senior majoring in Media, Communications and Journalism. He also has a certificate in broadcast meteorology and in Spanish media writing.

His passion for journalism began in high school.

“I remember I was walking with my sister’s to school [when we] were stopped at the gate because there was a bomb threat,” Alvarado said. “Once I found out, I was asking the teachers ‘what’s going on?’ So in my head there was a rush of adrenaline [telling me] I wanna know more.”

After graduation, he plans to get a job as a weather forecaster.

When he is not at school or work, Alvarado spends time with his family, plays with the family dog, and sometimes stargazes with his telescope.
