Fresno State students to get $23 million paycheck in October
If you are facing financial challenges and struggling to make ends meet, fear not. Uncle Sam is to the rescue.
Dr. Malisa Lee, associate VP for enrollment management at Fresno State said students will benefit directly from the Emergency COVID-19 Relief Fund. She said $46 million will be distributed to Fresno State students during the 2021/2022 academic year.
Students enrolled at Fresno State this fall will receive $23 million. The other $23 million will be distributed in Spring 2022. Students who don’t meet “immediate need” criteria can qualify for funding if they fill out an application sent to their school email address by October 5.
Dr. Lee said students can use the money to pay for things like the internet.
“That’s a COVID-related expense,” Lee said. “They can request for that funding. We will review it, and then if they were eligible, they would get that award on the 18th of October.”
Dr. Lee says the amount you receive will be determined by your status.
“As of right now, we’re anticipating that for category ones, if you’re a full-time student, you get $1400,” Lee said. “If you’re a part-time student, you get $700. If you’re not in categories one and two, but you have need, you can get between $300 to $600.”
Students can expect to receive these funds between October 11 and October 18. Keep a close eye on your email and student bank accounts.
