Free Wine Tasting at the Gibson Farm Market
Free wine tasting will take place at the Gibson Farm Market every Friday and Saturday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. until November. The Gibson Farm Market offers a large array of Fresno State wines that students harvest just steps away from the market.
“They grow it, they harvest it, they take it all to the winery,” says Gibson Farm Market employee Randi Souto. “They make the wine. They sell some of those grapes. They make some raisins out of those grapes.”
Besides the free wine tasting, enology students also host an annual wine club pick-up party. Wine club members receive three shipments a year and are able to attend this event to try even more wine. The Tailgate White wine is a fan favorite.
Lindsay Mendoca is a Fresno State Winery student assistant and helps coordinate this event.
“Our tailgates are really popular just because that’s the wine we serve at the football games,” Mendoca says. “People usually like to have that bulldog on the label, so I would say those ones sell pretty good.”
Many grape seeds are donated from vineyards in Napa, Sonoma and Amador counties. A portion of all wine sales goes to support Fresno State Agriculture.
