From Strength Coach to Inspiration
The Fresno State Athletics Department hired Izzy Quintero as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in October.
Quintero’s athletes enjoy having her as their coach because she balances fun and enthusiasm. In her new position, Quintero has had the opportunity to inspire her athletes and serve as a female role model.
Junior volleyball player Molly Eppright said, “I think it’s really inspiring having a female strength coach because that’s always something I’ve wanted to do, be a strength coach. And she just makes it look so fun.”
Quintero works with the women’s teams for volleyball, basketball and golf. She is in charge of developing and implementing the strength programs for each of these teams.
“Now that I am in charge of my own program it’s actually really exciting because I like to take ownership over things, maybe a little too much sometimes,” stated Quintero.
Quintero’s role as an assistant strength coach stretches further than just making her athletes stronger. She hopes to have a lasting and empowering impact on her athletes.
