Crazy Squirrel Games and Toys
Things are getting back to normal at the Crazy Squirrel Game store. In January, store owner Jennifer Ward got in the path of a shoplifter who was trying to steal a bag full of games. She tried to call 9-1-1.
“While I was doing that the guy just bull-rushed me and knocked me out of the store,” Ward says.
Ward broke her arm in two places. She’s still trying to get over the whole thing.
After hearing about the attack, Fresno state Bulldog Board Game Club president Tyler Carlo wanted to do something to help. He started a Go Fund Me and raised over $700 for Ward.
“I just wanted to give back to them because what happened was upsetting to me,” says Carlo, president of the club.
Those funds went into repairing damage to the store and helping with Ward’s medical bills.
Ward also used the money to hire a therapist for her employees like Charlie Moore.
“How the community like you guys came together and said we want to help. Because we care about you, and that’s how we feel about everyone here,” Moore said.
It will take time for Ward and her employees to feel safe again. In the meantime, they continue to provide a place for people to play games
Crazy Squirrel Games has board game night every Wednesday.
Guests can grab a game from the shelf or can rent a private game room for a fee. A fee friends who came from out of state say they don’t mind paying to hang out for three days.
Ward says the crazy squirrel game store will continue to operate as usual building a community with its customers.
