Beautify Fresno
Beautify Fresno is a volunteer organization with the goal of making Fresno a better place to live. Volunteers can do anything from painting over graffiti, removing brush to picking up trash.
Beautify Fresno has held 89 cleanup events and has more plans for the future.
“We have had thousands and thousands of people that have come out to volunteer to beautify Fresno. I never thought we would have that kind of turnout,” Mayor Jerry Dyer said.
Dyer has upped the ante this year by challenging the city of Fresno to clean up one million pounds of trash from the city’s canals, neighborhoods, parks, and streets.
Shana Pate attended her first event on a Saturday in April.
“I feel like if you’re hesitant, grab a friend. That’s what I did. It’s a great way to better your community and get involved,” Pate said.
