NFL Draft Takes Place In Las Vegas
Las Vegas finally hosted the 2022 NFL Draft last week after originally being picked as the host city in 2020.
The three-day event took place on the Las Vegas Strip behind the Linq Promenade hotel.
Speculation surrounded who the Jacksonville Jaguars were going to select with the first overall pick, as this year, unlike others, had no clear-cut top pick.
The speculation ended when Travon Walker, a defensive end out of the University of Georgia was given the title of “first overall pick.” He is the fifth player from Georgia to claim that title.
With many thinking Aidan Hutchinson was going to be the first overall pick leading up to the draft, Walker overlapped him just weeks prior and Hutchinson ended up being selected second overall by the Detroit Lions.
“I can’t complain, man,” said Adan Cruz, who attended the NFL Draft in person. “The atmosphere is very good out here. People are very nice. I like seeing all the sportsmanship around here you know, so very excited guys. Go birds.”
The NFL Draft left many fans surprised with the mystery surrounding this year’s class.
Only one Fresno State Bulldog was selected, and that was cornerback Daron Bland, who went to the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round.
Bland wasn’t the only Bulldog to see his dreams turn into reality, though, as Arron Mosby, Kevin Atkins, and Ronnie Rivers got calls from teams as undrafted free agents at the conclusion of the draft.
