VALLEY ANIMAL CENTER IS EXPERIENCING HARDSHIPS
While most pets at the Valley Animal Center get adopted into homes, there’s one pet that has made the center her forever home.
Mila the cat is black and fluffy she has been at the shelter for 13 years.
You can often find her lounging around the office where there are signs that say, “Please keep doors closed at all times” with Mila’s picture on it.
The Valley Animal Center isn’t funded by the government so it depends on donations and fundraisers to survive.
“It’s been difficult for us to get the donations necessary to continue to treat our animals the way they need to be treated,” said Rob Piccolo, executive director.
You can help by donating supplies to the Valley Animal Center. They need dish soap, bleach, trash bags, laundry detergent, and cat toys. You can also volunteer at the center.
“Right now we’re trying to focus on mainly socializing our animals so even if you can just come in and read to the cats or help us walk our dogs,” said Maritza Lopez, animal care operations supervisor.
